The death has occurred of Áine Gallagher (Betagh), Castlerea, Co. Roscommon and Gortnor Abbey, Crossmolina, Co. Mayo – 11th March 2026, peacefully, surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family in the exceptional care of the staff at The Mayo Hospice, after a long illness borne with courage, determination and dignity.
Predeceased by her infant brother Thomas.
Áine will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, husband Edmund Betagh, parents Tommy and Kathleen (née Forde), brother Rory (Athlone), sister Siobhán (Glencorrib), parents-in-law Richard and Jean Betagh, brother-in-law Thomas and his partner Emma, sister-in-law Alma, brother-in-law Martyn Kennett, nieces Annabel, Moya and Aoibh, nephews Conor, Xander and Charlie, godchildren Laila and Felix, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, colleagues, neighbours and a very large circle of friends.

Reposing at Gaynor's Funeral Home, The Square, Castlerea (F45 HH24) on Friday (13th March) from 4pm to 7pm. Reposing at Hiney’s Funeral Home, Crossmolina (F26 DH95) on Sunday (15th March) from 3.30pm to 6.30pm followed by Prayers and reception into St. Tiernan's Church, Crossmolina. Mass of the Resurrection at 12 midday on Monday (16th March) with burial afterwards in Crossmolina Cemetery.
